About us

Moon fool was founded in 2004 and is headed by Artistic Director Anna Helena McLean formerly of the Gardzienice Centre for theatre practice in Poland. The company devises original performances, sets up platforms for international exchange and runs a workshop programme that is delivered world wide.  They have evolved a training and style named A.C.T – Actor Chorus Text. This is a highly visual and musical form of theatre that works to push boundaries, open performers and in turn their audiences with song, movement and text.

Moon Fool’s body of work to date has drawn influence from the works of Shakespeare with the following  performance projects: Lear , Nightingale Theatre, Brighton 2006; Romeo and Juliet , Theatre Mittehouse, Berlin 2009; Richard III in development with Aegis Productions, Sadlers Wells and The Space London, 2012; Ill met by Moonlight in coproduction with Trestle Theatre, Two National Tours 2010/2011;

Titania ,solo show, Touring UK and USA, 2012 – Present day.

Moon Fool repeatedly draws inspiration from the stories, themes and characters of Shakespeare.  We use his texts to create innovative song, raps and rhythms and we develop and imagine new stories inspired by his. The works of Shakespeare exist in a hundred different forms, speak a thousand different languages and are alive in people across the globe. As an international collective of artists creating work for international audiences this is highly relevant to us. The themes and characters are universal and voyage in our 21st Century imagination.
